The golden leader had fully healed from her counter with Phantom. She hadn't told her own clan mates yet, but she was planning to before the next gathering. Each clan needed to know what was happening to their own clan mates, but right now she was not going to think about it. What she was going to think about was Mossypaw's training. Stretching here muscles from the peaceful sleep, Sunstar walked out of her den and towards the apprentices den. She hadn't been able to really start training her apprentice, but today she was making it all about the training.
She came into the apprentice den and went over to Mossypaw. She nudged her apprentices shoulder, "Mossypaw, you need to get up. We are going to be training today." she mowed softly, hoping to not wake up Moonpaw or any of the other apprentices. "Meet me at the camp entrance." she said, before leaving the den. Today was going to be interesting. The leader started to think to herself. What would she teach Mossypaw first?

The sun was out, lighting the entire world with a brilliant glow. The brown apprentice was overcome with a bountiful amount with energy; so much so, that she decided that maybe swimming would be the best way to do so. Stepping into the water, she started splashing and swimming like a little kit. It was so worry-free...
Her ears perked up after hearing a voice. "Mossypaw..."
"Huh?" She half-opened her eyes, letting out a yawn. And her dream was starting to get fun, too!
"You need to get up. We are going to be training today. Meet me at the camp entrance." So the voice belonged to her mentor, Sunstar. Well, that wasn't a shocker. Once she had left, the brown apprentice stretched to her full length, careful not to hit the other apprentices. Slowly, one paw in front of the other, she made it to the camp entrance. She licked her paw and rubbed her eyes, trying to get the sleep out of them.
"I'm here, Sunstar," she meowed.

As Sunstar waited for her apprentice, she let her mind think on what she was going to teach her apprentice. She blinked when she herd Mossypaw's voice and looked over to the brown apprentice. "Alright. Let's go." she meowed, before getting to her black paws and started towards the Lilypad Island. As she walked, the golden leader looked over to Mossypaw. "Sorry about waking you up this early, Mossypaw. Since I've been busy lately, I decided to let Ripplestream by in charge for a day while I trained you." she mewed. The golden cats ears twitched and she quickened her pace.
She slowed down and, glancing over to her apprentice, made her way to the island. Once she was on land, Sunstar shook herself to get some of the water off before sitting in the middle of the clearing. Her mossy green eyes locked onto Mossypaw's. "Alright, the first thing I am going to teach you is fighting skills." she said, her tail flicking a bit on the ground. "I want you to attack me, Mossypaw. Show me what you have seen from other apprentices. We won't be using our claws, and do not bite hard, just nip to show you will not be afraid to kill your opponent...if necessary." she added, nodding to her apprentice, letting her know that she was ready for the "attack".

Mossypaw had walked through the territory with her mentor at a sluggish pace at first; as the morning went on, however, she started to go with more of a bounce in her step and more energy in the tank. The morning was crisp and clean with the slight scent of moist dew and Riverclan water, waking up Mossypaw with ease. She barely caught her mentor's words, too lost in thought. "That's okay. An apprentice has got to learn, right?" the brown apprentice mewed.
The water felt wonderful on her pelt as she made her way with the golden leader to the island. Hesitantly she made it up on dry land- she didn't quite want to leave- and cleaned what she could of the water off. Once both cats were dry and ready, the golden she-cat spoke.
"Alright, the first thing I am going to teach you is fighting skills. I want you to attack me, Mossypaw. Show me what you have seen from other apprentices. We won't be using our claws, and do not bite hard, just nip to show you will not be afraid to kill your opponent...if necessary."
The brown apprentice nodded as her golden mentor got into a ready stance. Mossypaw got ready, preparing her body to charge forwards, and so she did. A couple steps before she could collide head-on with her mentor, she did a sharp turn.
See, this sharp turn would have enabled Mossypaw to gracefully dance to the side of Sunstar and she could attack the golden cat's side without her being prepared for it. However, this required some skill and balance.
And Mossypaw had neither.
"Woah!" She yelled as she twisted around the leader, only to fall to her side and roll down into the water. With a shake of her fur she had gotten up again, walking back onto the rock with a small limp (it's minor; pain will go away in a matter of minutes). With an embarrassed laugh, Mossypaw added humorously "Maybe too advanced, huh?" before licking her pelt dry once more. Underneath her brown pelt she was blushing from the embarrassment.

Sunstar nodded, Mossypaw had a point. Many apprentice would've groaned and complained about getting up so early, but Mossypaw didn't and the golden leader respected that. Of course, when Sunstar was only an apprentice herself she didn't complain either, instead she was excited and ready for each training session she would have with her mentor. Slowly, the golden she-cat blinked and made herself concentrate on the training at hand...or paw. Sunstar watched her brown apprentice get ready for an attack herself, and the leaders mossy green eyes locked onto the apprentice, studying the apprentice to figure out what she would do.
The golden mentor watched her apprentice come towards her head first. Sunstar got ready for the attack, letting her mind start working nd thinking of each battle strategy she was taught. When she saw Mossypaw take a sharp turn, the she-cat went to move to the side. You see, by moving to the side, Sunstar would be able to dodge the attack, but also attack her opponent with ease. It would also confuse the other cat, making them think that she had disappeared momentarily.
Sunstar went to pin her apprentice down, but stopped when she saw that Mossypaw had fallen into the water. A smirk came to her face and the leader nodded, "Yes that was, but it was very good for a beginner. Try again, Mossypaw, this time though don't over think it otherwise you'll do the something you just did." she meowed to her apprentice and got ready for another "attack" from the brown apprentice.

Mossypaw pelt mostly dry now, she stood up and got into position again. With a flick of her tail, she charged once more towards Sunstar, letting her body and instinct take over. Once she got close, she tried to do the sharp turn, once more falling; it wasn't as far, though, as she had slightly caught herself. She grumbled to herself, got up, and got ready for another charge.
It would take her another time or two to finally get it.

This time, Sunstar stayed where she was as she watched Mossypaw come towards her. She was proud of her apprentice for being determined even when she was being clumsy. When Sunstar saw her fall again she chuckled, "See, Mossypaw you are getting better at it. Let's try again." she meowed, as she got ready for another charge. Sunstar was going to be ready for the brown apprentice, even if she didn't get it on this try, the golden leader would keep going with the training. Alright, this time I'm going to attack her, even if she doesn't get it this time. I want her to learn that she would still be able to attack her opponent even if she was on the ground. she thought, as she got into a fighting stance.

"See, Mossypaw you are getting better at it. Let's try again."
The brown apprentice nodded, slightly panting from the rough exercise. With a quick swallow to get her throat moist, the apprentice had gotten into position. By now, the fourth time she attempted the move, her body had realized what she needed to do and the muscles had started to move accordingly.
She charged forward, waiting until the last two steps to turn and face Sunstar from the side. This time she did not fall over, and without a second thought she reached her paw to slide it across the the golden leader's side. Now whether or not her paw actually made contact, her brain wouldn't fully register for a moment or so more.

once again Sunstar watched as Mossypaw came towards her. She held her pride well for the apprentice t wasn't going to let Mossypaw get by so easy. S, Sunstar waited until the apprentice had turned and right before her paw touched Sunstar's golden pelt, the leader had moved to the side and out of the reach of the paw. Afterwards, the golden leader would attempt to unbalance her apprentice by coming at her from the side and, right before the collided, the leader jumped over her body and twisted. Sunstar's black would then rank her apprentices side. Now, if that worked good, if it didn't then Sunstar would try another move to try and unbalance the brown apprentice.

Mossypaw turned her head to watch her golden leader disappear to her side, and charge. The brown apprentice braced herself for either a frontal attack or the same move that Mossypaw had just performed, only to be shocked when the golden leader jumped over her. Green orbs watched as Sunstar attacked her from the side, making her stumble and loose her balance. She fell with a soft thud to her side. "What the...?" Mossypaw's brain tried to process what had just happened, and it took a second for her to realize. "Oh, mousedung!"
OOC: We need a long post here soon. DX

Sunstar smirked at her apprentice. "You did very well, Mossypaw, but you must expect the unexpected." she meowed as she walked over to her apprentice. Sunstar had learned the hard way during a battle, getting the scar going down her shoulder. It was a reminder to the golden she-cat that not every cat is the same, even in other clans. Not only did Sunstar learn from her mistake, but she wanted to make sure Mossypaw wouldn't have to go through the same thing she had to. "Alright, I'm going to teach you that move I just did. Trust me, it's harder than it looks." she mewed.
The leader turned and went into the center of the island. When she got the center she motioned for her apprentice to come nd sit next to her. "Now, the first thing you must learn about this move, is that you must time the jump and twist right. Otherwise, you will not have your opponent in shock like I had you." she said, "I am going to jump over that log, I want you to watch me. Watch every move that I do." she added.
Sunstar then stood up and took off towards the log. Just a few fox lengths before the log, the golden leader jumped into the air. When she was in mid-air, Sunstar made her body go into a ball just about and when her back facing the ground, her cat instincts kicked in making her twist and land on her four black paws. Once she landed, the golden leader walked over to Mossypaw and nodded. "Now you try Mossypaw."

"You did very well, Mossypaw, but you must expect the unexpected."
Well, that's obvious, Mossypaw thought, but did not voice the words out loud. She listened to what her mentor had to say, and nearly jumped for joy in hearing that she would be learning a new move. It took her a second to completely calm down.
She watched with mossy orbs as her golden leader performed the acrobatics in the air, landing perfectly and gracefully. Mossypaw had to remember that her jaw belonged on her, and not on the ground as her leader walked back. With a shake of her pelt, she got ready to charge towards the log.
"I'm ready," she spoke confidently, and charged. She took off at the exact spot that her leader did, gliding through the air and got ready to let her feet-landing instincts take in. But when she tried to do exactly as her leader commanded, she failed to realize that she was shorter and her legs were not as powerful. Mossypaw ended up on her side instead of her paws since her jump height was shorter than the golden leader's. "Guess I should have done it to better fit me, and not be some sort of copycat," she joked, keeping light-spirited.

Sunstar watched carefully as Mossypaw tried to perform the move. Instantly, the golden leader saw what the apprentice was doing, and chuckled lightly to herself. Slowly, she started walking over to the apprentice. Sunstar enjoyed training with Mossypaw, it brought out the side of her most cats never got to see. It felt good, to just train and relax instead of always being alert and ready for anything to protect her clan-mates.
When the leader heard the brown apprentice, she chuckled again. "I agree." she meowed, her eyes sparking with humor. She stopped a short lengths from Mossypaw and nodded, "Let's do that again." she mewed.

"Let's do that again."
Mossypaw chuckled one last time, getting rid of her giggles and stood up from her laying position. She shook, sending grass and moss and other clingy items that rested on her pelt into the surrounding area. Once satisfied, the brown apprentice went back to the starting point and focused on her target, ready to charge.
And charge she did. Understanding the difference between her and her leader, she jumped a little bit later and with more force in her mind legs to reach her required height. In the air she did a flip so that her back was facing the ground. Her heart was beating in her ear and she took a deep breath as she let her body do what it felt was right.
It only took a second or two for her to turn in mid-air, landing right on her paws. With a smile she turned towards Sunstar, looking for any trace of pride in the leader's face. She glowed with excitement. "Got it!" She cheered, smiling. She thought for a second after hearing her brother's voice in her head; after all, Moonpaw had been with her for so long that it was almost as if he was right next to her, "Are there any follow-up moves that I can do right after landing? Or any counter strikes I should be aware of?"

Sunstar watched her apprentice closely. She watched every move that Mossypaw was taking and smiled when she saw that the young she-cat would be getting it right. When the apprentice landed and looked over to the golden she-cat, Sunstar nodded her approval and her mossy green eyes shined with pride. Sunstar's first apprentice wasn't as determined as Mossypaw is, and that was what the leader had been looking for in an apprentice.
Padding over to the brown apprentice, Sunstar smiled down at her. 'You did very good Mossypaw. Much better than before and I am proud of that." she meowed. Listening to the apprentice, Sunstar nodded. "Once you land, don't hesitate to attack. Like I had with you, I landed at your side, one of a cats weakest points if they are not fast enough. You can either pin them down or use your claws to rank their side." she added, showing Mossypaw what she meant by that, by taking her claws and running them over the logs wood.
