As hot as it was, she didn't want to fall asleep in the sunshine.
Oh no. The Earth burned with a fire that could only be described as scorching, searing her pads on the bottoms of her paws to a crispy flake. There was just the slightest of breezes, something Haloshine didn't particularly care for. She longed for a harsh wind, one that nearly blew her off her paws. THat was the kind of wind she hoped for. It could make the temperature of the atmosphere cool immensely.
Haloshine's dark green eyes narrowed. One ear flicked back, and she focused in on the silhouette of a rabbit, just barely hidden in the shadows of a bush. The temptation sat casually, nibbling and wasting its time on a perfectly ripe plant, its nose twitching with every bite.
With a silent grace, she slipped from her position, and took off, running full speed toward her prey. The rabbit had barely enough time to react before her claws hitched into the right hind leg. The creature let out a momentary squeal as Haloshine's teeth came down hard on the neck.
Happy with herself, Haloshine picked up her prey and trotted off to her pre-dug hole. "There." She chirped, satisfied. "Four down. Two to go."

Harestar was used to heat.
In fact, Harestar hardly noticed how terribly scorching it was outside today. He'd experienced far worse temperatures back in his home country. To him, this was no more than slight warmth. Not even the glare of the devilish sun could faze his soft blue eyes. He was actually rather enjoying the weather. A tiny breeze fluttered through his short tabby pelt, and satisfied smile spread across the Windclan leader's face.
Harestar flicked a white ear as a leaf flitted over it and down in front of his face. It bobbed up and down in the breeze for a bit, before gliding upward and looping a bit to his right. The grown tom-cat felt an overwhelming urge to chase after it, whisking his tail back and force in anticipation. Turning his body to face his floating prey, Harestar crouched low to ground, his white underbelly brushing against the earth. He bunched up his legs in preparation for the jump.
Breath held, he waited for the right moment to leap at the golden-brown plant. Up and down it went, held up by the soft wind. Wait for it. Wait for it... Now! Harestar emerged from the ground in the direction of the leaf and landed with a gentle thump. Paws clasped, he opened them slightly to peer at his catch. Or lack of. The leaf floated far above him, having escaped the predator. The gray and white tabby tom glanced up at his lost catch blissfully.

Haloshine was not surprised to see her leader appear in the midst of her self-guided hunting patrol. In fact, she was more unsurprised to see him chasing a leaf. Harestar, no matter how grown up he appeared on the outside, still seemed to have that spark that most cats outgrew after they hit the rank of warrior. Indeed, Haloshine missed that feeling herself.
Still, the heat bubbled and blistered the ground below her, and she constantly lifted each of her paws to refrain from burning them to nothing. The wind was dying down, and she wanted to yowl to the sky, pray to StarClan that a glorious breeze was headed her way.
But the temperature was making her crabby.
"Nice catch." She mewed, her green eyes fixed on the leaf as it floated away. "How many of those have you caught so far today?" Normally she wouldn't be sarcastic to her leader at all, but today wasn't a very good day.

Harestar turned to meet the dark green eyes of a she-cat. She was one of his warriors-his warriors. It was still strange to say-but her name escaped him. Halo...something. He was quite certain that the second bit started with an S. What was she saying? Harestar focused on the she-cat's words, deciphering the code known as the English language. He stared for a bit, translating the sentence in his head. He picked up a few of the words such as "how many" and "caught" and "today." More than enough to go on.
"Including that? Cero." Came the heavily-accented reply. He couldn't help the mixed words of zero and the Spanish cero, but the two sounded close enough that one would get the idea. He got up, standing a good few mouselengths above the warrior. For a few moments, he just stood there rather awkwardly, thinking of what to do or say next. Lilystep had always told him that making small talk was a good way to practice his English. Now was as good as anytime to do so. "The weather is nice." Was all he could say, though his definition of nice weather was vastly different from the from most other felines' here.

However much Haloshine had originally doubted the WindClan leader had only started to increase. "I suppose." She meowed, glancing at him. "The breeze helps to cool things down, but the Earth itself is on fire."
Silently, she paraded forward, past her leader and huddled under the brush. The shade there was monumentally cooler than standing upright outside, but she wasn't going to tell him that. Curiously, she asked, "Is it hard to switch between English and Spanish?" Of course, everybody in WindClan knew their leader's story.
Cursing herself silently for being so blunt, she corrected herself. "I apologize for my extreme lack of a filter." The tabby she-cat looked at her leader. "Wanna go hunting together? I'm positively bored outta my mind." [/blockquote]

Harestar listened intently to the she-cat, it was only good manners to listen to what a woman has to say, after all. He perked his ears at the mention of fire, but soon realized it was only a metaphor. He chuckled at her description of the weather, she would never have survived in Spain. He waited for the she-cat to get settled before answering her next question. "It is...Difficult on occasion. But I had a teacher good-Good teacher." He corrected his grammar quickly, not quite used to the backwards way of describing things. He let out a purr of amusement at her apology. "It is fine. Curiosity is good for the mind."
Harestar suddenly found himself wondering why he'd come out here in the first place. It certainly hadn't been to catch leaves. He was alone, so couldn't have been patrolling. What had he come out here for? Wait, she was saying something else. What was it? Something about hunting? Oh yes! That's why he'd come outside. He was in desperate need of practice, he was used to cornering his prey versus having to chase it for long distances. "I would like to hunt with you. It might be easy for me to hunt if I am with another."

Nodding, she meowed, "It sounds hard. I could never do that."
When she asked him to hunt, she saw his eyes glaze over, and while she knew he wasn't exactly listening, it would be best for her not to call him out.
Through his strangely proportioned words, she could understand what he meant about hunting. Haloshine stood up. "Great. Let's get going."
She didn't take crap from anyone, she was assertive. So why was she making it so hard to have a friendly conversation with her leader? It was truly bothering her, and she often didn't have something bothering her to an extent.
"Is there something in particular you'd like to hunt?" She asked. It wasn't like Harestar hadn't been hunting before, but she honestly wondered how many cats would actually go hunting with their strange leader. Her being on of the few, maybe. But she decided she liked Harestar. He was kind, and could talk rather rapidly. At Gatherings he was peaceful and didn't cause fights without intending to.
She figured he was all right.
