A golden she-cat walked out of her den behind her warrios den. Her black paws touching the ground as if it was sacred to her. The leader smoothly walked around the den that she called her own to the main clearing of her clan. Her green eyes watching each of her beloved clan-mates work amongest themselves, helping each other with their duties. Sunstar was proud of her clan and how they protected each other, just how she would for them. How proud could she be was unexplain able about Riverclan's leader, and today was going to be a very special day for two apprentices.
Sunstar shook her head, the sunlight hitting her pelt making it shine like the golden color of the sun at its highest. The she-cat started to pad over to the Pond Rock, letting her mind go through the warriors that she would believe to train Mossykit and Moonkit in the ways of the code. She had already decided to train Mossykit herself, but who would be able to train Moonkit. Her mind went through each warrior and only settled on one. Rainpetal. The she-cat had been waiting patiently for an apprentice as her own and Moonpaw would be perfect for the she-cat.
Then it is decided. I will train Mossykit and Moonkit will be trained by Rainpetal. the leader thought as she made her way through the shallow pool and jumped upon the Pond Rock. Taking a deep, Sunstar let out a yowled out a clan meeting. She sat down, waiting for her clan-mates to settle down and wait for her annoucement.

Mossykit had been in the nursery, jumping up and down on her brother for the past five minutes. Ever since sunrise, the young cat would run around the den, jumping over objects and trying to shake away her excitement. But it only seemed to make the excitement more unbearable. "Moonkit! Wake up already!" she whined.
With a groan and after pawing at his ears for quite some time, the silver kit had given up on trying to ignore his sister. Slowly he rose, stretching his not-so-tiny-anymore body and gave his pelt a shake. "I'm up," he grumbled.
"Come on, come on! It's been six moons! Sunstar HAS to let us be apprentices now!" Mossykit nearly yelled in excitement, running out of the den and into the clearing. Moonkit, not wanting to be too far from his sister, ran right after her.
"Hold on, Mossykit!" Moonkit caught up to her, and started licking her fur clean. "You've gotten bedding stuck to your pelt again," he said between getting clumps out.
"Moonkit," she whined, but was unable to hold back a smile. Her brother was always so concerned for her.
"Done," he spoke, getting rid of the last bit of moss. However, his sister jumped up to her feet and pointed to the leader who now rested on Pond Rock.
"She's here! Oh, it's time! We're finally going to be apprentices!" Mossykit cheered, getting as close to the leader as was allowed during clan meetings. Moonkit opened his jaws to say something, but he soon realized it would only be caught by deaf ears. With nothing else to work with, Moonkit ran after his sister in hopes of stopping her from doing something stupid.

The mossy green gaze of leaders eyes found the two kittens that would be getting their apprentice names in the front of the group. She could see by how Mossykit was sitting down, that the little kit was excited about this day. A smile formed on the leaders face, That is good. One day she will become a very good warrior for this clan. she thought, as Sunstar's eyes trailed over to Moonkit.
The male kit was always looking calm, watching over his sister to make sure she didn't get into too much trouble. He would probably be disappointed that his sister would be mentored by his leader and not him. I do not want an apprentice that doesn't think before he acts. the leader thought. Which was why Sunstar had chosen Rainpetal to be the young kits mentor, and not herself.
Standing up, Sunstar let her eyes settle on her clan-mates. "Today, is a very important day my dear clan-mates, for today we have to very special kits that are going to become apprentices!" she meowed to her clan. Then her eyes settle onto Moonkit and Mossykit, "Today Mossykit and Moonkit will become apprentices of Riverclan!" she added.

"Today Mossykit and Moonkit will become apprentices of Riverclan!"
Mossykit nearly leaped up into the air to her leader at the sound of this statement, but she managed to stay where she was. Her whiskers and tail were quivering, giving away her excitement. Who would she be mentored by, she wondered? She gave a quick glance of all her clanmates. Oh well. It wouldn't be too bad.
Moonkit, on the other hand, managed to stay completely still. On the inside he was experiencing the same feeling this sister was, but he was never one to let past a poker face. He too wondered who would mentor him. But then it didn't matter to him, he soon realized. He would settle for any mentor, as long as Mossykit got a mentor that would teach her well.
So with fast-beating hearts, they waited for the leader to say her ceremonial words.

Before the leader removed her gaze from the two kits, she saw Mossykit's tail quivering with the excitement her little body could hold. The eladers attention went to Moonpaw, he hadn't shown his excitment like his sister had and that distrubed Sunstar dearly. Kits were always excited and showing that feeling when it was their time to shine in front of the clan and become apprentices.
The leaders mind went to her siblings, now in the ranks of Starclan. They had barely become apprentices or hadn't become at all, she tried to not to remember their deaths but times like these, it was difficult for her to do so. Sunstar shook her head slightly and cleared her mind. Today was not about her past, but the future of her clan and the kits receiving their apprenticeships.
"I, Sunstar, leader of Riverclan call upon my warrior ancestors to look down onto these two kits. They have waited for their time, watched their friends become apprentices before them, and now their time has come." she announced to her clan. "I have chosen two warriors to mentor each kitten." she added. Slowly, Sunstar turned her gaze to Moonkit, "From this day forward, until he has earned his warrior name, this apprentice will be known as Moonpaw. The warrior training him as waiting for many moons to get an apprentice and now she has one. Rainpetal will be Moonpaw's mentor." Her green eyes locked onto Rainpetal's. "Train him well, Rainpetal. Pass on your skills to this young apprentice."
The leader only paused for a moment before turning her gaze onto the Mossykit. "Today, Moonpaw's sister, Mossykit is becoming an apprentice. And from this day forward, until she has earned her warrior name, this apprentice will be known as Mossypaw. It has been a long time since I have taken an apprentice and so, I have decided that I, Sunstar, will train Mossypaw. I'll teach her everything she needs to become a warrior of Riverclan." the leader announced before jumping off of the Pond Rock and going over to her apprentice.
Stopping in front of Mossypaw, Sunstar touched her nose to the top of the young she-cats head before whispering, "Congratulations, Mossypaw."

"Hey, furball, get up!"
Rainpetal knew, in that instant, that she would be the one to kill her sister. Grumbling an incoherent response, she rolled over, longing for the softness of her mate's fur, but instead found air. "Why are you waking me at this ungodly hour?" She groused, blinking one eye open in suspicion.
Her sister's blue gray fur was pressed up right against her eyelids. "Well, if you hadn't been chattering up Flarespark all night long you'd have known that there is a clan meeting going to take place in just a few minutes." Bluewind said, idly buying her time before she would have to drag her sibling out of her bed. She padded her way around the mostly empty warriors den, gentling shaking any straggling warriors like Rainpetal. When they had cursed and made their way out to the ceremony, Bluewind came back to Rainpetal. "Get up."
"No." The weariness in Rainpetal's violet orbs was clear- she had had night patrol, and then spent the night bickering with Flarespark. But Bluewind simply raised an eyebrow- a silent threat to those who knew them well - and Rainpetal was up, muttering curses under her breath, and followed her sister out into the island.
It was sunny out, but Rainpetal felt as though this could be a lousy day. First, she was woken up by Bluewind (who had an uncanny knack for knowing when her sister was sleeping in- early riser), and now she had to go to a ceremony for some apprentices- two she was one hundred percent sure she would never get. She barely heard the ceremony, and was in fact half asleep when she felt all eyes on her. "What?" She asked the cat closest to her.
"Um, Rainpetal..." He said, looking confused. "You were just named mentor to Moonpaw."
"Oh." She grumbled, forgetting her newfound position. Then suddenly, it all clicked. "Wait, WHAT?"
Bluewind made her way over and sat close to the front. Close to Ripplestream, she thought silently. She noticed him and shot him a tiny smile.

Moonkit- no, Moonpaw's eyes went wide for a moment, seeing how his sister had been given the greatest honor of them all: being apprenticed to the leader herself. It was a shock to him, but in the end he let it out with a sigh and a smile. This is what he wanted. His sister was given the greatest chance to become an excellent warrior, and the silver apprentice could not have wished for anything more. Smiling a small smile, he turned to his mentor.
And only blinked expressionlessly to see his mentor nearly half-asleep.
He walked over to the older cat- Rainpetal, her name seemed to be- and touched noses with her which was a tradition for an apprentice to do with his or her new mentor. Once the meeting was called to a close, Moonpaw looked expressionlessly at his mentor, not yet trusting her enough with emotions.
"So, what are we doing today?" he asked.
-----------------------
Mossypaw nearly purred to the point she couldn't get enough air. Sunstar was to be her mentor! She was going to get the greatest warrior that ever lived in her lifetime as her mentor! She could barely contain herself, with her tail flickering with pent up excitement.
"Congratulations, Mossypaw."
Mossypaw purred even louder when she touched noses with her leader and mentor, Sunstar. Once they had backed away, Mossypaw began jumping up and down, letting out all the energy that she had struggled to contain for so long.
"What are we going to do today?!" Mossypaw asked her golden mentor, with a gleam of adventure in her emerald eyes.

Sunstar chuckled at her new apprentice. She knew what it was like to get a mentor, and be training to become a warrior of her clan. The leader had purred until she wa s vibrating, pretty much like Mossypaw was now. "We will explore the borders, before I teach you any skill." she meowed before walking over to Rainpetal and Moonpaw. "Congratulations Moonpaw and Rainpetal. I cannot wait to see how you turn out to become a warrior, Moonpaw." she said, pride showing in her voice for the young apprentice.
Turned over to her much excited apprentice, Sunstar flicked her tail at Mossypaw's shoulder. "Lets go Mossypaw." she mewed quickly, before walking to the entrance o the camp. Sunstar sat down and waited for her apprentice to came. Teh leader was patient, it was one of her qualities that had shown when she was just a kitten, and she guessed, was why her leader before had chosen Sunstar to be the deputy.
